Cowdray House Wedding Flowers should feel as though they belong to the celebration rather than simply being added to the room. Cowdray already has atmosphere, scale and character, so our role is to create floristry that complements the setting while remaining personal to you — from the first bouquet to the final table.

The Floral Story
The most memorable wedding flowers are not a collection of unrelated arrangements. They share colour, texture, movement and ingredients so the whole day has a recognisable floral language. At Cowdray House, that might begin with the bouquet, reappear in the bridal party flowers, grow in scale at the ceremony and then soften again across the reception tables.
Real Wedding · Cowdray House
India and Will were married at Cowdray House in the wonderfully atmospheric week between Christmas and New Year. Their flowers needed to feel romantic and celebratory, but still seasonal and right for the setting.
The flower they both came back to was the burgundy hydrangea. That became the thread running through the wedding: rich, velvety colour repeated across the arrangements, softened with beautiful open roses and given texture with thistles and other seasonal florals.
Instead of treating the bouquet, bridal party flowers and venue arrangements as separate pieces, we used the same floral language throughout. The result was cohesive without feeling overly matched — abundant, warm and unmistakably theirs. It is exactly the approach we bring to Cowdray House Wedding Flowers: one floral idea carried beautifully through the day.
Winter floristry can easily become too heavy or too obviously festive. Here, the burgundy gave depth, while softer petals and natural movement kept the flowers romantic. The seasonal palette felt appropriate for late December without turning the wedding into Christmas décor.
The Bouquet
The bridal bouquet is often the most personal arrangement of the entire wedding. For India, the burgundy hydrangeas gave the flowers their depth, while the open roses softened the palette and the thistles introduced a beautiful change of shape and texture.
That balance matters. Deep winter tones can become heavy if every element is equally strong, so we let softer flowers, negative space and natural movement keep the bouquet romantic rather than formal. For Cowdray House Wedding Flowers, that softness is especially important when working with the scale and character of the setting.
The same ingredients could then be echoed elsewhere at Cowdray House without every arrangement looking identical. Repetition creates recognition; variation keeps the floristry alive.
Colour, texture and season are all considered together. Burgundy brought richness, open roses brought softness, and the thistles gave the bouquet a distinctive sculptural edge. Those same qualities could then be translated into larger reception arrangements without losing the intimacy of the personal flowers.
