For Beth and Charlie, that meant an August wedding filled with loose, seasonal flowers rather than a rigidly matched scheme. The palette moved through different colours and flower varieties while still feeling completely connected.
The Floral Story
Beth and Charlie wanted their flowers to feel super chilled and relaxed. Larkspur, lisianthus, clematis, stocks and sweet peas created a mixture of height, scent, softness and natural movement, with the arrangements designed to look generous without becoming too structured.
Real Wedding · Gate Street Barn
Beth and Charlie were married at Gate Street Barn in August, with both their ceremony and reception taking place at the venue. Their floral brief was beautifully uncomplicated: gorgeous mixed flowers throughout, with the feeling that they could have been picked from a garden that morning.
Rather than centring the day around one dominant flower or one tightly controlled colour, we worked with larkspur, lisianthus, clematis, stocks and sweet peas. Together they gave the arrangements delicacy, fragrance, soft movement and the slightly wild quality that made the whole wedding feel so relaxed.
We supplied foliage to adorn the chandeliers, bringing softness and greenery overhead without making the barn feel heavily decorated. Seasonal flowers were also used to create the milk churn displays, giving guests generous floral moments that felt completely in keeping with the rural surroundings.
Beth’s bridesmaids wore different colours, and their bouquets were designed to reflect that. Instead of forcing every bouquet into exactly the same palette, the flowers responded to the dresses while still belonging to the same wider scheme. The Bouquet
Beth’s bouquet captured the relaxed spirit of the whole day. The flowers were mixed rather than overly ordered, with stems allowed to sit at different heights and angles so the bouquet had the softness and movement of something gathered from a garden.
Larkspur gave height and a delicate, airy quality. Lisianthus added soft ruffled flowers, while clematis introduced a more unexpected shape. Stocks brought fullness and scent, and sweet peas added the lightness and fragrance that feel so right for a summer wedding.
The bridesmaids’ different dress colours gave us another opportunity to let the flowers feel individual. Each bouquet could pick up on the colour around it while remaining part of the same family, rather than every person carrying an identical arrangement.

Ceremony & Reception
Because Beth and Charlie held both the ceremony and reception at Gate Street Barn, the flowers needed to work throughout the day rather than feeling designed for one short moment.
Foliage was used to adorn the chandeliers, creating greenery overhead and helping the floral design travel vertically through the barn. The effect was intentionally relaxed: enough foliage to soften the structure and add atmosphere, while still allowing the character of the barn to remain visible.
Seasonal flowers filled the milk churn displays, giving the space generous floral focal points with the informal charm of garden flowers. The aisle arrangements followed the same language, carrying colour and natural movement into the ceremony without becoming too formal.

The Setting
Gate Street is a countryside wedding venue in Bramley, Surrey, with the barn providing a flexible setting for both ceremonies and wedding breakfasts. That makes it particularly well suited to floral schemes that can evolve through the day rather than exist as separate ceremony and reception designs.

The venue was the backdrop rather than the starting point. The flowers still began with Beth and Charlie’s relaxed brief, the bridesmaids’ varied colours and the August season, then we considered how those ideas could live naturally within the barn.
